Join The Striking Goodyear Workers at YouTube

Goodyear has an exclusive contract to produce racing tires for NASCAR, which raises the question why an American institution like NASCAR is totally dependent on a company that is moving jobs out of North America and into countries like China, Colombia, Slovenia and Poland. While shutting plants here, Goodyear since 2004 has invested $150 million in overseas plants where workers are paid less than 50 cents an hour.

“Like many other multinational corporations, Goodyear is walking away from its American workforce, closing plants and trying to slash health care and retirement security obligations,” said Leo Gerard, international president of the United Steelworkers. “As these giant corporations desert North American communities, the middle-class is dying a painful death, deprived of the dream of good jobs and retirement security.”

Friends, as the United Steelworkers' strike against Goodyear ends its 9th
week, your support is more important that ever - not only for the steelworkers, but for consumers!
