Upcoming Activities

Please do as much as you can to contribute to this important campaign

1.  The New Bedford area Campaign Kick-Off Event is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept 24th, 6:30 p.m., Our Lady of Assumption Church (OLOA), 47 So. 6th St., New Bedford.  We need people to come and to get commitments from other people to come.  Please let us know how many people you think can attend from your organization/group/personal network.

2.  Circulating Vote No voter pledges.  We are circulating cards to members, co-workers, family, friends and neighbors, to get them to pledge to vote no and hopefully to volunteer.  People who would like voter pledges can pick them up at the Coalition for Social Justice/Coalition Against Poverty office, 30 Union St., NB.  Call 508-999-2777 to make sure someone is there. 

3.  Phone banking.  We are making calls to voters to persuade people to vote NO.  We are making calls Monday thru Thursday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. or Monday thru Friday during the day for 2 hour shifts.  lf interested, call Irene at 508-472-3732.

4.  Organizational outreach.  We are systematically reaching out to organizations to get them involved.  If you would like to help, please contact us. 

5.  Setting up a speaking engagement at your organization or group.  We have a Speakers Bureau.  Let us know if you would like a speaker.

Next Planning Meeting for the New Bedford area Coalition for Our Communities:  Thursday, Sept. 11, 6 p.m. at the Greater S.E. Mass. Labor Council, 556 Pleasant St., New Bedford (one block north of Union St.)
