Thanks to 1199SEIU member activism, legislation that will hold surgical centers accountable to our community while protecting our community hospitals through equal standards has PASSED the Senate. The legislation is currently up for a vote in the House. Many of our local legislators are supportive, but we need them and the public to know that our community hospitals are in danger because the for-profit surgical centers want to play by different rules. Our patients need strong community hospitals that aren't disadvantaged by unregulated for-profit outfits.
We are going to send a message that on Cape Cod we put patients first!
