Each year union members, artists, educators, and community activists gather for three days to share songs, art, poetry, theatre, visual arts, and film that celebrate the forward and positive momentum the labor movementon the campus of the country's only labor academic institution, the National Labor College. And at the same time activists, organizers, and trainers gather to develop, enhance, and expand skills in capturing the hearts, minds, and bodies of the grassroots community to help the continued build up of a strong Labor Movement Force.
The Labor Heritage Foundation of Washington, DC will hold its annual salute to workers' culture, the Great Labor Arts Exchange & the Conference on Creative Organizing, June 22-24, 2008 at the National Labor College in Silver Spring, MD.
Participants can choose between two events. The 30th Annual Great Labor Arts Exchange (GLAE), or the 11th Annual Conference on Creative Organizing (CCO) a training program for union staff, organizers, and activists seeking creative strategies that will put the "zing" in their organizing.
"It's a wonderful gathering of professional and amateur performers as well as artists from a variety of disciplines," says Elise Bryant, Board Chair of the Labor Heritage Foundation. "People come from all over - from as far away as California and British Columbia. There's something here for anybody who loves music and art with a labor flavor."
Extended Registration Deadline: Call or email by June 2, 2008 to reserve your spot at GLAE or CCO at the early registration prices.
