The Vermont Workers Center - Jobs with Justice has an opening for a full-time organizer to coordinate our new "Healthcare Is A Human Right" grassroots organizing project. This position will be focused on building a statewide tested network of Vermonters in working class communities and organized labor to fundamentally change the politics of healthcare reform.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a passion for justice, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work hard and travel throughout the state in your own vehicle.
- A knowledge of union organizing, and/or community organizing practices and principles, the ability to write organizing plans and grant proposals and a strong working knowledge of data base programs and the ability to develop an organizing data base is strongly preferred.
- Applicants must have good communication skills, personal discipline and organization, exercise good judgment, and be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Women and people of color are urged to apply.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Computer literate and ability to write leaflets and newsletters. Driver's license and insurance required.
- S/he will understand that real progress comes from struggle.
- This position will report to the VWC Lead Organizer/Director and VWC Coordinating Committee. Starting annual salary will be at least $32,000 and will be more based upon organizing experience. Excellent benefit package (including medical, dental benefits with family and domestic partner coverage, prescription drugs, retirement, and other benefits)
