Area Trades Council seeks support for engineers at the Colonnade Hotel

All day event

The Area Trades Council: Operating Engineers (IUOE) L. 877, Electrical Workers (IBEW) L. 103, Carpenters Union (NERCC) L. 51, Plumbers Union (UA) L. 12, Painters Union (IUPAT DC #35)

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

We need your help for our Solidarity Rally on Monday, April 7, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

to support the Colonnade Hotel Engineers in their fight for a fair and just contract.

These hotel workers formed their union May 17, 2007. They have been at the negotiating table since June, 2007 fighting to get a first union contract. These new union members are underpaid by union standards, with most of them needing to work a second and even third job to make ends meet. They are united fighting for a contract that will give them a pension plan; control on ever escalating health insurance cost; money for skill improvement training and work rules that give them dignity and respect.

Please join them as they rally at the new Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel

Monday April 7, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The Colonnade Hotel's General Manager, David Colella, was named "Restaurateur of the Year" by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. They will be honoring him at their annual awards dinner.

We will be there as well to let Mr. Colella know that "Enough is Enough." It is time to settle the contract with his workers. While we congratulate Mr. Colella on his award, at the same time, we need to send him a loud and united message that we will not be satisfied, nor will there be peace at the hotel, until we have a fair and equitable union contract.

Join us and let's show Mr. Colella and the entire Massachusetts Restaurant Association what labor solidarity looks like.

United We Bargain, Divided We Beg!
