Coalition Against Poverty/Coalition for Social Justice
Speak-Out for Working Families
6 p.m. - 8 p.m., March 11, 2008
Buttonwood Senior Center (at Buttonwood Pond)
New Bedford
We need a large turn-out to let ourour legislators know how strongly we feel about our Working Families Agenda!
- Close Corporate Tax Loopholes. Fund Essential Services
Schools ~ health care ~ housing ~ child care ~ fuel assistance ~ city services
- We need to build on our past HEALTH CARE victories.
Make sure our new health care plans are affordable, accessible and high quality.
- We need to increase funding for Rental Vouchers.
Working families need assistance paying extremely high rents.
- We need CORI reform. People should be able to get jobs and housing and not have their pasts held against them forever!
We will also be advocating for:
- Paid sick days for all employees,
- Safe staffing levels for nurses and patients in hospitals,
- MCAS alternatives
- Eliminating toxic chemicals in everyday cleaning products
- Eligibility for food stamps & cash assistance for legal immigrants
- Increasingthe amount people receive for fuel assistance
Together we can make sure that working families come first!
But we can't do it without YOU!
We need a big turnout to make
government work for all of us!
