For over 30 years, Teamsters for a Democratic Union members have been organizing to make North America's most powerful union a force for social and economic justice. And the longest-running union reform movement in U.S. history keeps on trucking. In January, TDU leaders took power in the 13,000-member Chicago Local 743, a union representing primarily African-American and immigrant Teamsters who work in small manufacturing and the service sector. A new era brings new challenges. What role can TDU and the Teamsters play in building a resurgent labor movement that challenges corporate power, organizes the unorganized, and allies with grassroots movements for real progressive change? Proceeds to benefit TRF, the education and legal defense arm of Teamsters for a Democratic Union. |
